It is the year 2156. The humans have died out and this has left as a legacy a world where robots get bored. They are going to run races to pass the time. For this they use abandoned spaceships. They agree to inspect a number of inspection points as soon as possible, and to make use of various board elements.
RobotIQ is a robot race game. Each of the players controls one robot that races against one another. Each race course is marked by a set of inspection-points spread out among the boards in play, and the object of the game is to have your robot be the first to inspect the inspection-points in order. Players are dealt a hand of program cards at the beginning of each turn, and these program cards allow a robot to move and rotate.
Not all players are online at the same time. On the contrary. You create the program for your robot and after all opponents have done this, all programs are executed. Then you make the next program for your robot to execute. So you play when it suits you. A game therefore normally has a turnaround time of several days. You play the games as single games, as competitions (multiple games) and in different tournaments.
